Somewhere in the heart of Hanoi, a school has spent years helping children with intellectual disabilities learn, grow and find their place in the community. What was once a dream of having interactive screens in every classroom is now becoming a reality.

On August 24, as students at Binh Minh Primary School in Hanoi returned to school to prepare for the 2026–2027 academic year, they received a special gift: smart interactive displays and air-conditioning equipment donated by Song Da Clean Water Investment JSC (VIWASUPCO), a member of GELEX Group.

In any school, these facilities can make classrooms more modern and comfortable. But at Binh Minh, where inclusive education for students with intellectual disabilities has been part of the school’s work for many years, they mean something more. They open up another way for children to discover, understand and engage with what they are learning.

From One Classroom to a Dream for the Whole School

Located on Tho Nhuom Street in central Hanoi, Binh Minh Primary School was established in 1993. Alongside primary education, the school has also provided inclusive education for students with intellectual disabilities for many years.

For the teachers here, a lesson is not simply about helping students learn something new. It is also about gradually building their skills, confidence and ability to become part of the wider community.

Representatives from GELEX Group and VIWASUPCO present the school with a symbolic gift, along with their continued support.

Principal Pham Van Hoan, Binh Minh Primary School, recalled that in October 2025, only one of the school’s classrooms had an interactive display.

“Our dream was to have this equipment in all 17 classrooms so that the children could learn more effectively. Today, we are deeply moved to see that dream become a reality”, he said.

For the school, the needs of its students make visual and interactive teaching especially meaningful. Images, sounds and direct interaction give teachers more ways to design lessons that suit their students and help them engage with new knowledge more naturally.

The air-conditioning equipment also helps create better conditions for teachers and students throughout the school day. And because the gifts arrived on the very first day the students returned to school, the moment felt even more special. “It is not only a better start to a new school year. It is also a message of encouragement for the children as they begin a new journey with more joy and better learning conditions”, said Principal Pham Van Hoan.

When Support Starts with a Real Need

During the ceremony, representatives from GELEX Group and VIWASUPCO joined teachers for a lesson using one of the newly installed interactive displays.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quy, CEO of VIWASUPCO, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the school, teachers and parents in supporting the students.

“We hope the equipment we have donated will make a practical difference to teaching and learning at the school”, he said.

Also attending the ceremony, Mr. Dinh Van Vinh, a representative of the parents’ committee, said what made parents happiest was seeing their children have better conditions for learning. “As parents, we are truly happy and moved to see our children have better learning conditions. We are grateful to everyone who has brought them this joy and these opportunities”, he said.

Rather than offering support without a specific focus, the initiative at Binh Minh started with the school’s own needs: technology to support teaching and better learning conditions for its students. This is also how GELEX approaches its community initiatives across the Group – bringing resources together and encouraging member companies to find meaningful ways to contribute based on their business, their local communities and the people they serve.

For VIWASUPCO, a company in the clean water sector, responsibility to the community begins with something fundamental: ensuring a reliable water supply for people’s everyday lives. From that foundation, the company continues to extend its support to education and other community initiatives.

According to Mrs. Nguyen Hong Nhung, Chief Communications Officer at GELEX Group, the value of a social initiative is not simply measured by the scale of the resources given. “What matters is putting those resources in the right place, meeting the right needs, and creating meaningful change”, she said.

For the students of Binh Minh Primary School, the first day of the 2026–2027 school year therefore carried a little more meaning. The new interactive displays are not simply about making classrooms more modern. They give teachers another way to help each student understand a lesson, give the children more opportunities to build confidence, and bring more people alongside them on their journey to learn, grow and become part of the community.
