On 25 July, senior leaders from GELEX and its member companies received certificates for completing Executive Leadership – Beyond Authority, a leadership development programme designed exclusively for GELEX by NUS Business School as part of Future Makers 2026.
The certificate ceremony marked the conclusion of two days of intensive learning while also marking the beginning of a new journey – one of turning leadership insights into action, strengthening teams, and enhancing execution across GELEX.
Today’s Challenges Call for New Leadership Behaviors
Future Makers 2026 went beyond introducing modern management frameworks. It challenged GELEX’s leaders to think more deeply about the future of the organization and their role in shaping it.
Through discussions on competitive advantage, balancing alignment with autonomy, organizational culture, psychological safety, constructive challenge, leading across generations, and behavioral change, participants were encouraged to reflect on how they lead their teams.
The program also explored what it means to lead in a BANI world, the growing impact of artificial intelligence, stakeholder influence, and, most importantly, how new perspectives can be translated into meaningful action.

Throughout the program, one message remained clear: GELEX’s future will be shaped by leaders who are willing to embrace change, lead with influence, and act with consistency.
Investing in People to Strengthen the Organization
Presenting the certificates, Professor Jonathan Briggs praised the GELEX leadership team’s openness, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to engage in thoughtful discussion throughout the program.
He noted that bringing together senior leaders from across the Group to learn and exchange ideas reflects GELEX’s long-term commitment to developing its people, culture, and organizational capability.
“GELEX is investing in what matters most – its people and its culture”. According to Professor Briggs, this is the foundation for strengthening competitiveness, navigating uncertainty, and achieving GELEX’s 2030 vision.

Leadership Begins with Personal Change
One of the program’s defining strengths was encouraging each participant to rethink their own leadership role in developing high-performing teams.
Whether through empowering employees to solve problems independently, creating psychologically safe environments where people feel comfortable speaking up and challenging ideas, or using data and AI to improve decision-making, every lesson shared a common purpose: helping people grow so the organization can perform at its best.
Nguyễn Xuân Quý – CEO, Song Da Water Investment JSC (VIWASUPCO) said: “The biggest takeaway for me was the shift towards an empowering leadership mindset. I used to believe my role was to solve problems. This program reminded me that true leadership is about creating the conditions for others to solve problems themselves and to grow in the process”.

For Phạm Thanh Nghị – CEO, Electrical Equipment JSC (THIBIDI), the program reinforced the importance of psychological safety. “Innovation begins with creating an environment where people feel safe to speak up, challenge ideas, and contribute new ones. That’s the kind of culture I want to build within my team after this program”.

Trong khi đó, ông Nguyễn Trọng Định, Tổng Giám đốc CTCP Sản xuất Máy biến áp và truyền tải MEE bày tỏ ấn tượng với những nội dung về dữ liệu và AI. “AI won’t replace leaders, but it will fundamentally change how leaders make decisions. The key is to embrace continuous learning and apply technology in ways that strengthen our organization’s ability to execute”.
Meanwhile, Nguyễn Trọng Định – CEO, MEE Power Transformer Manufacturing JSC (MEEPOWER), found the sessions on data and artificial intelligence particularly valuable. “AI won’t replace leaders, but it will fundamentally change how leaders make decisions. The key is to embrace continuous learning and apply technology in ways that strengthen our organization’s ability to execute”.

Lê Thị Nga – Board Member, EMIC Electrical Measuring Instrument JSC (EMIC), shared a similar perspective. “I believe a leader’s role isn’t to always be out in front showing the way. It’s to create an environment where people feel safe to share their perspectives, challenge ideas, and discover the best way forward together”.

According to Mai Thị Minh Thu, Chief Human Resources Officer of GELEX, investing in leadership is a strategic priority. “In today’s rapidly evolving business environment, GELEX sees leadership capability and organizational execution as the key drivers of long-term growth. That’s why GELEX continues to invest in Future Makers – a leadership development program designed specifically for senior leaders across the Group and its member companies”.

For GELEX, Future Makers is not a standalone training program. It is part of the Group’s long-term strategy to build a strong leadership pipeline and prepare its people for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
The Program Ends, the Journey Continues
Completing the program is not the finish line. It is the start of turning new ideas into everyday leadership behaviors.
As leaders grow, so do their teams. As each company becomes stronger, so does GELEX. And together, those individual transformations will help build a more resilient, more distinctive, and future-ready GELEX.
