On February 13, GELEX Infrastructure JSC announced a Board of Directors’ Resolution approving a plan to acquire a 20% equity stake in the company developing the Gia Binh International Airport Investment and Construction Project.

Gia Binh International Airport will be developed across the communes of Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Nhan Thang and Lam Thao in Bac Ninh Province, covering a total land area of approximately 1,960 hectares.

The project has been officially approved in principle by the National Assembly, with a total investment of more than VND 196 trillion. Structured under a 100% non-state budget model, it is set to become the largest privately funded airport project in Vietnam’s history.

Gia Binh International Airport, a breakthrough and a national growth lever

The development of Gia Binh International Airport marks a bold new chapter in Vietnam’s infrastructure journey. More than an aviation project, it is envisioned as a strategic growth engine for the nation. Built on a twin hub vision for the Capital Region, the airport will strengthen Vietnam’s position on the regional and global aviation map.

GELEX Infrastructure’s participation reflects a long-term commitment to investing in transformative projects that create lasting value. By joining this landmark development, GELEX reaffirms its dedication to working alongside partners to help shape a more connected and prosperous future for Vietnam.

Planned under a twin hub model similar to those in London and Tokyo, Gia Binh International Airport is designed to complement Noi Bai International Airport and enhance the overall capacity and resilience of the northern aviation network.

The project will be developed in line with international standards, with the ambition of becoming a smart, green and sustainable airport. It is expected to support socio-economic development, enable dual-use operations, ensure national security and defense requirements, and serve major diplomatic events, including the 2027 APEC Summit.
