REPORTING TO: Chief Investment Officer (CIO)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead Macro, Sector and Market Research

  • Lead domestic and global macro research and assess its implications for sector outlook and the Group’s investment strategy.
  • Analyze industry structure, value chains, supply-demand dynamics, competitive landscape and policy/regulatory developments to identify growth drivers, opportunities and risks, with a core focus on energy, infrastructure and logistics.
  • Develop scenarios, leading indicators and investment theses; recommend priority sectors, sub-segments and entry timing for investment consideration.

2. Analyze and Screen Investment Opportunities

  • Proactively originate and screen opportunities in line with the Group’s investment strategy and criteria.
  • Assess business models, competitive moats, growth outlook and financial profile; perform preliminary valuation and risk analysis to build the investment thesis and formulate recommendations.
  • Partner with the M&A & Investment team on in-depth evaluation, stress-testing sector, market and business assumptions that underpin due diligence and valuation.
  • Monitor the existing portfolio: refresh investment theses, flag material developments and recommend adjustments to positions or recommendations.

3. Manage Research Operations and Quality

  • Set the research agenda and allocate resources against priorities and the decision-making needs of the Investment Committee.
  • Lead and develop the research team; challenge and take accountability for the quality of research reports, analytical models and investment recommendations.
  • Standardize research methodologies, tools and data sources to ensure reliability, consistency and timeliness.
  • Build and maintain a network of funds, research institutions and industry experts to supplement market intelligence, pressure-test views and enhance deal access and sourcing.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Professional Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in investment research, investment analysis or investment strategy. Candidates from research or investment strategy teams at asset managers or institutional investors are preferred.
  • Strong foundation in macro, sector, market and company-level analysis.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of energy, infrastructure or logistics, with the ability to extend coverage into adjacent sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial statement analysis, forecasting models, valuation and scenario analysis; sound understanding of capital-intensive businesses and projects with long investment cycles.

2. Management & Investment Competencies

  • Sharp analytical mindset, with the ability to form independent, data-driven views and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to lead technical work, maintain quality control and develop team capabilities.
  • Strong presentation, debate and stakeholder management skills when engaging senior leadership and external partners.
  • Proactive and execution-driven, with a high degree of prudence, integrity and accountability.

3. Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Investment, Economics or a related field.
  • CFA, MBA or other relevant international credentials are an advantage.
  • Professional fluency in English, including communication, presentation and negotiation.
