GELEX: Training objectives closely linked to business Goals
The company has determined that this approach is the pathway to achieving sustainable business success, as training and development positively impact strategy, innovation, and employee engagement.
In recent years, activities aimed at building a learning organization within GELEX have become increasingly active, focusing on developing long-term learning and development plans for employees, tailored to each position within the company.
Training activities are prioritized at GELEX, becoming a driving force for creating competitive advantages for the business and serving as a key to harnessing human resources in a competitive and volatile business environment.
Proactively Building and Implementing Training Across the System
GELEX recognizes that to understand and adapt to the pace of socio-economic development and to facilitate the growth of its employees, establishing a learning culture within the company is extremely important. Therefore, the Group has proactively developed and implemented training throughout the system, creating opportunities for employees to access and acquire knowledge.
In 2023, GELEX conducted 563 training courses, totaling 120,000 hours, with participation from over 13,000 employees.
Training programs are designed with rich content, appropriate for different groups of participants. Examples include: an orientation training program for new employees; the G-Leadership and G-Manager training programs to enhance leadership and management skills; and programs to improve soft skills and professional knowledge for staff in operational roles.
According to Ms. Mai Thị Minh Thu, Director of the Human Resources Department of GELEX Group, the activities that the Training Department invests time and resources in involve analyzing training needs, developing training content, establishing clear goals, and building a detailed transition plan. “We emphasize connecting training objectives closely with business goals. Therefore, from survey activities, measurement, and evaluation, we improve, fostering progress and continuous development.”
By utilizing different instructional methods, combining diverse training formats, building detailed training implementation plans for each course, and selecting suitable tools and equipment, the learning experience at GELEX is always rich, innovative, and breaks down traditional learning barriers by fully leveraging technology.
Currently, GELEX is refining its E-learning training system to organize and manage online training, providing online courses and learning materials. “This training method helps the company save training costs, offers flexibility in training locations, and facilitates employee participation in learning. Additionally, it allows the Training Department to easily monitor learning progress, evaluate training effectiveness, and improve training management processes based on statistical data from the system.
Promoting and Spreading a Learning Culture Within the Company
GELEX leaders recognize that the quality of employees plays a decisive role in the organization’s success; thus, investing in human resources is a strategy that GELEX is pursuing.
Today, businesses operate in a challenging competitive environment that requires sufficient human resources capable of adapting and innovating. Therefore, an effective internal training system will contribute to establishing a learning culture and continuous development for the organization as well as providing a robust and high-quality workforce to implement the company’s strategic goals.
To foster and build a learning culture, GELEX always encourages employees to set personal learning goals and supports them in achieving these goals by creating conditions for them to experiment with new ideas and learn from failures, thereby developing an innovative mindset.
In addition to its experienced instructors from reputable educational institutions, GELEX also focuses on building, equipping, and nurturing the necessary knowledge and skills for its internal trainers, aiming to leverage internal knowledge and promote a culture of knowledge sharing, creating a close, vibrant, and increasingly fresh learning atmosphere.
Notably, many senior leaders of the Group have taken the initiative to develop content and conduct classes to share their knowledge and experiences during internal seminars and training sessions, inspiring a learning culture that has become a profound aspect of the company. This also serves as a foundation to stimulate the spirit of learning and to realize the goal of making GELEX a learning organization.
Investing Resources to Create Motivation
In the context of a strong global digital transformation trend and an increasingly fierce business environment, companies face many challenges in establishing advantages, especially those derived from tangible factors. Thus, building a learning organization is a solution that helps GELEX create and maintain its competitive advantages.
Investing in and promoting a learning spirit not only motivates employees across the system to engage with their positions but also helps build a cohesive workforce with lasting foundational value.
In the next phase, GELEX Group will continue to focus on attracting, training, and developing talent, creating conditions for each individual to maximize their potential; promoting a corporate culture and digital transformation in the human resources sector, affirming GELEX as one of the Best Companies to work for in Asia—a prestigious award that HR Asia has bestowed upon the company twice.
Ms. Mai Thi Minh Thu, Director of the Human Resources Department at GELEX Group, stated: “The GELEX leadership is also steadfast in its goal of building a sustainable workforce, focusing on developing capabilities, empowering employees, ensuring a safe and balanced working environment, along with establishing a transparent and robust governance system.”
